Best NCAA Coaching Job

Recently Andy Staples wrote about the best coaching jobs in America. You can find that article here:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/andy_staples/06/03/best-college-football-jobs/index.html

My take on his rankings:

Having Texas and Ohio State one and two is obvious. Big money, big states, big schools, powerful alumni, chance to win every year. These schools have it all. Let me go into some I disagree with.

He has Auburn ranked number nine. His argument about paying 1.3 million to an offensive coordinator is a solid one. Still though, this is the number two school in a state that is probably not big enough consistently. If they had not paid so much, allegedly, for Cam Newton then they would probably have been 8-4 last year. Plus, the boosters who call the shots at this school scare me. Pat Dye is back in the shot calling mix too. I fear it will not be long before Auburn ends up back on probation.

Miami is not on this list. Which is shocking when you consider schools like Arizona and Arizona State made it. Miami, the city, is one of the most glamorous in the country. It is an amazing place to live. Especially now that it is not as murder-ridden as it was in the '80s and '90s. They have fallen off a bit recently. So has Nebraska though and they made number 15. You also have a very supportive group of former players who are among the best in the NFL. Couple that with the talent which is a stones throw from campus and you have what is still one of the best jobs in the country.
